This is a group for like-minded real estate professionals interested in networking and getting to know new people who are in the industry, both LGBTQ and non-LGBTQ. As I’m sure some of you will agree, I feel that LGBTQ folks are sometimes sequestered in an industry which has been ruled historically by straight, white men. I myself am a commercial real estate appraiser and have yet to meet another like myself in my niche. I am definitely swimming in those straight, white waters and I have to say it has not been without its difficulties and rewards as well. However, I do think that it is an important task to be done in order to break through barriers which have been in place in these types of industries for far too long. Luckily, times are surely but slowly changing and I think it would be great to meetup, meet, get to know, and support like minded professionals in the real estate industry in a friendly and fun setting so come one come all whether you’re an appraiser, broker, property manager, investor, broker’s assistant, urban planner, etc. or anyone in our community interested in real estate. And we even welcome our straight friends who support us, I don’t believe in fostering an environment of exclusivity, we have enough of that already! BTW I am not all doom and gloom and YES I DO know how to have my fun! 🙂

Held on Chicago’s predominately black southside at one of the city’s oldest gay bars, it has quickly become a support network for queer artists of color who often feel isolated from the larger queer community and events on the city’s north side.

At ConceiveAbilities, we understand that third party reproduction can be challenging for many reasons. Building a family is an especially unique process for gay men and same sex couples and may initially seem overwhelming. But with the right guidance, resources and preparation, it can truly be done with ease.

Utilizing a gestational surrogate and egg donor is an ideal option for many gay men because one partner can have a biological connection to the child. Some states prohibit same sex couples from adopting, but surrogacy guarantees that you will be legally recognized as the child’s biological parent; your partner may not need to obtain an adoption for parental rights. We offer a thorough referral list of attorneys experienced with the unique legal issues from state to state. This careful consideration will determine the best option to affirm your rights and protect your family.
