Known for our dynamic treatment of trauma, violence and the effects of abusive behaviors, we at Center for Contextual Change base our therapeutic process on a unique treatment, The Collaborative Stage Model (CSM). Co-created by Mary Jo Barrett, MSW, the founder of the Center for Contextual Change, CSM is a solution-focused, three-stage model aimed at facilitating change through collaboration between the client and therapist; the client will experience positive shifts in their internal, relational, and environmental worlds.

    Who We Are

Deaf Counseling Center is a Deaf and Lesbian owned counseling and psychological service that provides Deaf LGBT-friendly in-person and videophone and therapy for Deaf LGBT clients. Contact us to learn more about our services.

Our approach to therapy is primarily Deaf-centered and existential-humanistic in orientation. As the first psychotherapists to conceptualize a Deaf-centered framework of therapy and the first to establish a practice grounded in a Deaf-centered philosophy, we are conscious of how Deaf people’s lives are shaped by their identities and experiences as members of this cultural and linguistic minority group, as well as the many other intersectionalities in their lives.
